Nosy Bé
The Perfume Island
The perfume island is located in north-western Madagascar, a one-hour flight from the capital. Nosy Bé owes its nickname to the ylang-ylang, vanilla, coffee, sugar cane, and peppers, whose bewitching aromas fill the air. It has several other deserved nicknames, including "Pearl of the Indian Ocean," and the "Tahiti of Madagascar."
This volcanic island has the most beautiful palm-shaded beaches of the Malagasy group. Its calm turquoise waters, perfect for diving and snorkeling, shelter an exceptional marine environment with remarkable varieties of coral and rainbow-colored fish. On land you will find lemurs and chameleons, and imposing baobab trees.
Hellville
This main city is located on a wonderful bay, surrounded by wooded hills. From Mount Passot, you can see the whole island, its ten crater lakes, as well as the cliffs and the coast of the adjacent continent.
