Visit Argentina > North > Jujuy (San Salvador de Jujuy)
From Jujuy to Tierra del Fuego, the Andes present marvelous contrasts: the Northwest plateaus, the lake region, the forests and glaciers in the Patagonia.
The province of Jujuy, northwestern Argentina, is bounded by the Republic of Bolivia, on the north; the province of Salta, on the east and south; and the republics of Chile and Bolivia, on the west.
It has an area of 53,219 square kilometers (1.4% of the country total), stretching in a highly irregular shape; the relief is dominated by the Puna de Atacama, which is an elevated plateau of medium height, exceeding 11,480 feet above sea level, conforming an ambient of peneplain. Outstanding in this landscape are highlands and volcanic massifs.
Tourist attractiveness is chiefly based on its landscape plenty of mountains and deep valleys as well as its rich indigenous tradition. Tourists should visit Quebrada de Humahuaca and all the small town in that region: Humahuaca, Tilcara, Tumbaya, Miamará, Purmamaraca, Laguna de los Pozuelos National Monument, Calilegua National National Park.
