Located only 50 kilometers away from Trois-Rivières, Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade represents more than 300 years of history.
Its picturesque streets and its beautiful church will charm more than one visitor. Several ancestral houses, which formerly belonged to important people, nowadays make a historical circuit.

The town will always remain the World Capital of the Petits Poissons des Chenaux (Tommy cod). Year after year, in mid-December, when ice hardens on the Sainte-Anne River, the outfitters water its surface to increase its volume and improve its security, and they set up these little cabins above holes opening on the water bed. Before long, a genuine snow village is created, ready to receive the thousands of visitors that drop by each year.
Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade morphs into an ice-fishing circus running 24 hours a day, seven days a week til mid-February. When the sun goes down, the lights inside the huts and the temporary streetlights strung up for the season create an explosion of sparkles across the frozen river. All through the night, anglers visit each other’s cabins to fish, drink beer and swap stories. It is simple, fun and friendly.

Dive into the Past
The Domaine seigneurial Sainte-Anne invites you to step back into the 18th century. Let your hosts tell you about their beautiful stories. Your hosts are three former inhabitants of the estate: Madeleine de Verchères, who was the Sainte-Anne master from 1706 to 1747; Elizabeth Hale, an artist who made sketches of the village, and finally Honoré Mercier, a former Quebec premier who used the manor as a summer residence. During your visit of the estate, do not forget to visit the beautiful gardens where you can have a picnic or listen to a concert in summer.

For those who would like to learn more about this famous fish, the Centre d’Interprétation du Poulamon (Atlantic Tomcod interpretation centre) presents exhibitions about this outdoor leisure.

You can come either by the 40 highway or the 138 road.
If you come by the south shore, Trois-Rivières bridge is the shorter route.
