Florida, a tropical peninsula

Welcome to the USA > Florida, a tropical peninsula
"The Sunshine State" occupies a large peninsula at the very south of the US east coast. Flat and sandy, it offers 660 km of white sand beaches on the Atlantic coast and more than 1,000 km of equally magnificent beaches along the Gulf of Mexico.

Weather-wise, summer is hot and rainy, winter is comfortable and spring is wonderful. If' you're tempted by the off-season prices for a little sun-filled jaunt, it's important to know that from late August until October, you're in hurricane and tropical storm season... which can put a damper on your expectations!

Must-sees in Florida include Disney World and the Epcot Center, which attract visitors of all ages. Orlando also offers enough attractions to fill an action-packed week of holidays. Located a four-hour drive north of Miami and a little inland, this destination enjoys its own micro-climate and is less prone to fluctuations in temperature.
