Visit Jersey
Seen from the parapets of Mont Orgueil Castle, it's difficult to imagine a more idyllic scene: the tranquil movement of the bay, boats at anchor and the hills of Normandy in the distance. And yet, Jersey was forged by centuries of conflict, discovery and renewal, leaving it a unique historical and cultural heritage.

Follow the coastline down to St. Ouen to see the remains of an ancient forest that grew here more than 10,000 years ago. Explore the neolithic dolmens, medieval ruins, a Royal Square imbued with history, Martello towers and the island's World War II fortifications, built during the German occupation.

Discover the French heritage, streets with French family names, local "Jèrriais" cooking, and a dialect that is close to French which can still be heard in the countryside or occasionally in the Victorian covered markets of St. Hellier.

The best way to discover Jersey is to explore the island on foot. With its heather-covered cliffs, luminous sand dunes, medieval castles and tranquil countryside, Jersey will both surprise and captivate you.
With the wind in your hair, and an eye out for dolphins, head along the wonderful wild northern coast, seeking out the charming little fishing villages and countless hidden meadows. Enjoy a "moon walk" in the Ramsar area of the island, which the low tide transforms into a phantasmagorical landscape. Explore the ponds and lagoons teeming with life and watch the wading birds take off in a whirl of feathers. Then head west in search of the elusive Jersey green lizard or surprise fireflies during a night-time stroll.
Take an excursion around the historic port of St. Helier or set out to discover Jersey's ghost-filled past (not for the faint-hearted!)
Explore more than 70 km of green lanes where time seems to have stood still among colorful flower beds, wisteria-covered cottages and old red granite farm houses. You’ll find open fields, headlands and cliffs which play host to a number of species of wildlife like the puffin and razorbill.

If you're looking for relaxation, head for Piedmont, one of the many coves in Jersey with a sand beach, where you can laze in the sun, swim in the cobalt blue ocean or rediscover the childhood delights of exploring caves. For the more adventurous, dive schools on the north coast offer wreck excursions and dives that let you explore Jersey's rich underwater life. But there is also lots to see inland. There are the vineyards at La Mare, the only wine-growing operation on Jersey, where you can watch the winemakers' work before sampling the fruits of their labor. For children, nothing's more fun than a trip to the past aboard the steam train at the Pallot Steam Museum.
In the northern part of the island, you'll find something to suit every taste in charming bistros and restaurants with patios overlooking the coast, and tea shops where you can enjoy fresh crab sandwiches and Jersey cream teas.
