UV Tips
The time has finally come to leave on vacation. You're looking forward to the sea spray, the sun, the warm sand... But be careful, because UV rays, salt and heat aren't necessarily your friends. One piece of advice: protect yourself!
First of all...
- Go to the beach before noon and after 4:00 p.m. It's less hot and, above all, the sun's rays are less damaging.
- Start out slowly with short exposure times - an hour a day during the first week, then gradually a little longer, but never more than 3 hours a day. These short repeated periods of exposure stimulate melanin production without burning your skin.
- Don't forget your protection kit: sunglasses, sun hat and suncream.
- Be sure to reapply sun screen every two hours while you're exposed to the sun.
- You're wrong to think you can stay out longer with a higher protection factor. It's better to apply a 15-index lotion several times during the day, rather than an extreme IP factor, like 50 or 60, just once.
- Remember that a tan acquired gradually and without burning will last longer and will be more luminous than an overly-fast intense tan. Patience and caution are the key words when it comes to developing the perfect color.
